As a professional novelist and a business owner, I know how difficult it is to commit to the writing process in the midst of a busy life. Yet over the years, I have found ways of making writing a central part of my life and as a result have published three novels. In 2009, I completed a draft of my latest novel and submitted to my agent. On her advice, I began a rewrite and submitted the first three chapters again – and she was excited! Now, in Spring of 2010, I aim to complete that novel and resubmit. I also aim to put together a PhD proposal in January. What are your writing goals for the first quarter of 2010?
I have set up The Completion Club to enable you to make this the year when you fully focus on your writing goals, set time aside to plan your schedule of work, commit to it and put actions in place that will ensure your artistic and commercial growth. I want you to achieve outstanding creative success, with an ease that surprises you.
Often all we need is the space and time to make that commitment and the support of others who really believe in us: a group of fellow writers who are equally ready to complete their work.
I'm also particularly keen to give you advice not only on time management and creative discipline, but also on what makes a great submission package – how to get agents and publishers to take you seriously, so that you by-pass the slush pile and get your manuscript READ! I’ll be available to the group on the Google forum to give advice on marketing your work, both online and to the press.
There is no limit to the number of members of The Completion Club. However, when members go above 15 people, I will put on an additional monthly teleclass, so there are never more than 15 people in a mini “Club”. The Club is open to both aspiring and established writers and geography is no barrier to being a member of the Club as you can access the teleconference line from anywhere in the world. I will also be organising many special guests for our group calls and there will certainly be some fantastic and exclusive podcasts for you to download - interviews with published authors and agents/publishers in the year ahead.
I want this year to be the year that you FINISH YOUR NOVEL/NON-FICTION BOOK AND SUBMIT IT TO PUBLISHERS!
In the monthly meetings (by telephone conference line) you will:
- Get TOTALLY CLEAR on your writing goals for the year
- Learn how to be driven by passion, not discipline
- Discover unique time management tools that will enable you to be more productive than ever before
- Be held accountable to monthly actions by me and the group
- Understand why you may get blocked and learn how to overcome fear and procrastination
- Learn how to remain focused and deeply committed to your work
- Discover an unprecedented confidence in your artistic work
- Commit to finishing and do just that!
- Get constructive feedback on your ideas from me and the group
- Get advice and support as you begin submitting your work for publication
How do the Completion Club calls work?
We will meet once a month throughout the whole of 2010 on a teleconference telephone line, for an hour, in a group discussion facilitated by me. It will be action focused and you will make commitments to your writing work as part of the process, to ensure that you meet your personal goals. I will be on the line to guide and support every member of the group. When you sign up, you will receive full details on the practical aspects of working by teleconference calls.Price: £35 per month or £350 for the year

"Finding Jacqui has been the best thing I've done in furthering my writing career - better by far than any course I've undertaken or any help I've received from agents and editors. Trying to make the transition from academic writing to commercial non-fiction is not easy, but thanks to Jacqui's insight and her support, I finally feel like I might be ready to make it happen. For the first time, I know what I want to do and how I'm going to do it! What I've appreciated most of all has been her uncommon ability to put her finger on what needs to change, and to express it in a way that actually motivates me to rewrite. I've learned so much, and thoroughly enjoyed it, too. I'd recommend her to all the struggling, baffled and overwhelmed writers I know, if I didn't want to keep her all to myself..." |

A PERSONAL NOTE:
When I first began writing on my own in 1986, I was nineteen years old and had no idea what a writing community was. It wasn’t until 1992 when I embarked upon my second novel whilst on the MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia that I really discovered how having support from a mentor and a team of fellow writers could make all the difference. In 1993, I got my first publication deal with Penguin Books, but it would never have been possible without that group of writers with whom I worked at UEA.
Since then I’ve completed many projects. I have launched a business, completed and published two more novels. (I have written five novels in all, including the one I intend to finish this Spring). And even now I have a group of writing friends with whom I meet regularly and share email encouragement.
This year I also intend to embark on a PhD and to launch a new website. I’m looking forward to sharing my journey with members of the Completion Club.
With exclusive blog access, regular monthly calls and access to the Google group, this is the perfect way to stay on track.
In January, I’ll forward a report to all Members entitled:
“How to make 2010 the year that you complete your writing project”.
Then the work begins to move from dreams to action…
I have priced this Club affordably to ensure that access is available to all. The fee is £35 per month or £350 for a year. Those enrolling before 1st January pay only £250 for the year - that’s less than my regular clients pay for two monthly calls and around the price of a couple of Starbucks coffees a week!
Why write alone when you can have encouragement and support every step of the way? I look forward to welcoming you to the Club…
If you have any questions, please contact me and we can set up a time to talk, to find out whether the Club is right for you. I look forward to connecting.
